Our freedom is something that we tend to take for granted and rarely stop to consider. While we are all busy with life, school, work, and our own daily routines, men and women, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters continue fighting a war to maintain our freedom and the freedom of others.

This is not about the war; this is about our soldiers, the brave men and women who fight on our behalf. We want to say, “THANK YOU!” However, we know that this is not enough to make up for the sacrifices that they have endured.

At Access Christian Counseling and New Direction Counseling and Psychological Services, we are a proud member of “Give an Hour.” We want to let our service men and women know that we are a place that they can come to for emotional, mental, and spiritual healing.

Our staff is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care at whatever price you can afford. It does not matter to us what your opinion of the war is. What does matter is that you fought, and if you need counseling, we are here for you.

This is our way of thanking you for all that you have done.

If you are hurting and in need of counseling, please call us today. We are here and we can help. We continually ask for God’s blessings to be upon you and The United States of America.

There are many reasons to be anxious in this stress-filled age: earthquakes, money problems, high pressure jobs, relationship difficulties. If you don’t have something to be stressed about, pick up a newspaper or turn on the TV and the media will be sure to warn you of another danger you never thought about.

However, there is another kind of anxiety, without a direct cause from modern day worries: generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a pattern of frequent, constant worry and anxiety over many different activities and events.

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a common condition that can start at any time in life. It can be caused by genes, learned behavior, or stressful life situations. Most people with the disorder cannot remember a time when they haven’t been anxious.

The main symptom of GAD is constant worry or tension. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, people with GAD:

can’t control their constant worries

know that they worry much more than they should

can’t relax

have a hard time concentrating

are easily startled

have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep

Common body symptoms are:

feeling tired for no reason

headaches

muscle tension and aches

having a hard time swallowing

trembling or twitching

being irritable

sweating

nausea

feeling lightheaded

feeling out of breath

having to go to the bathroom a lot

hot flashes
